President: Daniel Mello
Daniel is Eta chapter's President for 2014-2015. With the dream of becoming and Airline Pilot, he holds a Commercial Pilot Single & Multiengine Certificate, with Instrument rating and is currently working on his Flight Instructor License. He was raised in the Azores' Islands in Portugal and came to California to pursue his dream of flying. Besides flying and school, he loves boating, dune riding, camping and greatly involved in the Portuguese community. Additionally, he is a huge 49ers and A's fan, not to mention our own SJSU Spartans. With the passion for aviation and the dedication to giving back, Daniel was awarded the "Edwin Morinan Memorial Award - Outstanding Student of Aeronautics (2013-14)" for all he has done for the SJSU Aviation Department. Daniel feels honored to serve as an officer and leader of Alpha Eta Rho.
Vice-President: Katie Allmann
Katie is currently a SJSU sophmore majoring in Aviation Operations. She began flying with her dad at only six months old and has loved it ever since. Living in San Diego, she has flown to many locations in her fathers Piper Arrow. Her favorite location is Lake Havasu, Arizona. Katie pledged in Spring 2014 and is excited to become involved in our activities. Besides flying, her hobbies include diving, watersking, traveling, and going to the beach.
Secretary: Samuel Shaw
Samuel Shaw is a transfer student from Los Angeles currently studying aviation operations at SJSU. With his previous experience working in the corporate world coupled with his passion for aviation he aspires to have a career within general aviation (although as long as he's getting a paycheck in return for flying an airplane he'll be happy almost anywhere). Sam currently holds a private pilot certificate with more ratings underway and expects to have his instrument rating by the end of next summer. In addition to his involvement with Alpha Eta Rho Sam is also a member of SJSU's Precision Flight Team. Sam enjoys backpacking, rock climbing, eating In-N-Out, and above all helping others discover aviation.
Treasurer: Kurtis Rowe
Kurtis Rowe is currently a Sophomore student at San Jose State, and he hopes to earn a degree in Aviation Business Management. He is an aspiring pilot and hopes to get his Private Pilots License as soon as possible. He is very excited to be an officer with AHP, and he hopes that the fraternity will continue to thrive throughout the year. Hobbies include competing with the SJSU Precision Flight Team, watching movies, and spending time at the rifle range.
Pledge Master: Carlo Espinosa
Carlo Espinosa is Junior at SJSU majoring in Aviation Operations. He has been a member of Alpha Eta Rho since Spring 13', he is a competitor for San Jose State University's Precision Flight Team, is a member of the Flying 20's and is now Pledge Master for Eta Chapter at SJSU. He currently holds a Private Pilots License and has accumulated over 100 hours of flight time. His goal is to build up his ratings in pursuit of becoming a Certified Flight Instructor and is optimistic about the career opportunities that will present themselves in the future. Additionally, he is a huge SF Giants fan, participates in research studies at NASA Ames Research Center, is a big advocate of the SJSU Aviation Program and loves Chipotle. Carlo is very passionate about the aviation community and his favorite quote is, "Aviation, there is not that many of us, so we take care of our own."
Historian: Wasifyar Farooq
Senior Wasif Farooq is excited to represent Alpha Eta Rho as our photographer. He recently transfered to SJSU from Alameda with an A&P certificate. With over 70 hours of flight time, Wasif is excited to become an Airline pilot. Hobbies include: camel riding, photography, and traveling the world.
